24v versions available, select voltage above. Do check upon delivery, 24v heaters are 10+ ohms.
As of 2pm 6/24/16, this HotEnd has changed over to the new cartridge style thermistor setup. Please use the contact form if you have another preference.
Full E3D HotEnd: One nozzle (0.8mm), volcano heater block, sock, and the other parts from a v6 (heatbreak, heatsink, fan, fan duct) to form a full E3D HotEnd. Bowden version includes Bowden tubing and fitting/coupling.
Includes a 30w heater, which is plenty for up to 300C. For temperatures beyond that, you'll need a 40w heater and thermocouple or PT100 setup. Those items are available in the spare parts section.
Note: Socks not included, except with full hotend variant.
There’s no getting around the fact that 3D printing is a slow process. Even with extremely fast motion systems of modern machines like delta robots we’re still stuck waiting hours for even simple parts to come off the machine.
We’re also seeing increasingly large machines which have the ability to create huge objects that push the limits of what we are capable of printing. However print these huge parts is incredibly slow and waiting for literally days to print these large objects is simply impractical in many cases.
The volcano E3D HotEnd is E3D's answer to slow printing. If you want large parts, in less than half the time, with dramatically increased strength then Volcano is what you need.
Volcano enables you to print at high layer heights, through large nozzles, and extrude much more plastic per second. This results in dramatically reduced print times.
In addition to reduced print time, the large traces of filament printed by Volcano bond to one another with greatly improved strength. This results in parts that are extremely strong and feel much more solid than standard prints.
Printers are getting larger and the objects that can be printed are getting larger too. However, as prints get bigger the time taken to print these objects increases exponentially. Volcano makes huge printers viable, and manufacturing large objects much more efficient by slashing print times by more than half compared to standard printing.
By combining speed and strength Volcano makes it possible to print objects a whole new class of objects like shelf brackets, large-scale RepRap machines, and even furniture.
Just because parts are printed with large layers doesn't mean that they are going to be inaccurate or ugly. On the contrary, the large layers give a very smooth appearance, with great gloss. With a correctly calibrated machine, you can still hit part accuracies of +/- 0.1mm.
